You might think that a career comeback for British R&B singer Amy Winehouse is a bit unlikely, since she died from alcohol poisoning in 2011. But billionaire Alki David plans to resurrect the performer via hologram, by using a 3D “hologram,” similar to what was done with the image of late rapper Tupac Shakur at the 2012 Coachella festival.
“The plan is that Amy will finally tour the world after failing to do so when she was alive,” a source told Britain’s The Sun.
Amy’s father, Mitchell “Mitch” Winehouse, is happily standing behind the idea, and is even promoting the tour himself.
“The most important thing to Amy was the music and I’m sure a lot of people would like to hear her sing again… It depends on what Amy’s fans want as a way to keep her memory alive. If it’s a book, an album, or a hologram, then so be it.”
The details have yet to be finalized, but don’t be surprised when you find tickets on Ticketmaster for Amy’s ‘first world tour.’
David recently sued Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts, claiming he owns the rights to the hologram technology used in the Michael Jackson One show at Mandalay Bay in Vegas, the so-called “Musion Eyeliner” technology. This is not, in any real sense, a hologram — it’s a modern update of a 19th Century magician’s trick done with mirrors.
