In 2008, the founding editor of the popular progressive Slate.com blog Michael Kinsley wrote to Minnesota voters:
“If the voters of Minnesota would rather be represented by a hack like Norm Coleman than laugh off a few jokes that didn’t work, then they should stop complaining about being stuck with professional politicians. And the real joke will be on them.”
But a “campaign quandary” for then-candidate Al Franken had actually been a reality for Leeann Tweeden, who carried an unwanted sexual encounter with the Senator on her conscience for eleven years. Today we learned that Kinsley’s snide remarks to Minnesotans took place two years after Franken had inappropriately kissed and groped radio host and former model Leeann Tweeden on a USO Tour in Afghanistan.
To add to the irony and sick circumstances, Mrs. Tweeden tweeted her story with #MeToo, a hashtag Senator Franken used only a few weeks ago to call his female colleagues in the Senate who experienced sexual abuse “brave.” Now we see that the real joke here has been Senator Franken’s made-up reputation for being an advocate for women.
Before his election to the Senate in 2008, Al Franken had a history of sexual misconduct jokes as an unsuccessful comedian and writer for Saturday Night Live. Somehow all of this was buried and excused by the liberal media to create a “candidate for the middle class” of Minnesota who would end “politics as usual.”
But as we are finding out, politics, as usual, is sexual misconduct as usual among elites in our political and entertainment class. And Al Franken is no outsider here.
With photographic proof, Mrs. Tweeden has exposed a progressive hero for what he and so many other liberal men in power truly are – just another creep in a suit. Mrs. Tweeden has decided to make her story public in the hopes that if there are other women Senator Franken has assaulted, they will have the courage to speak out immediately instead of keeping their stories and anger locked up for years.
